SMF - Just Installed!
xx Cal Screamin..Short Notice!
August 22, 2010, 08:18:19 AM by N110ES
Hey everyone,

A huge event is scheduled today at 1700z. If you want to get together with me I will be buzzing in and around in my Bonanza.

My plan.

At around 1745z Depart Corona (AJO) for Big Bear (L35) Flight is about 45 miles but make sure you bring a plane that can get up to 9-10k for the hop over the mountains to big bear!

Then test our airspace knowledge and nerve of the ZLA controllers and depart Big Bear VFR to Santa Monica (SMO) .

After that it really depends on what controllers are like if I will fly more.

xx World VATSIM Day
August 07, 2010, 04:43:47 AM by dave A
From the VATSIM website;

http://www.vatsim.net/news-details/world-vatsim-day/d2600beb42/

Quote
For the past three years I have been promoting World VATSIM Day, basically the easiest event on VATSIM. No slots, no committee, no planning, no routes, no booked controllers. Basically nothing booked at all.
How does it work then?

Simple, World VATSIM day is the day that VATSIM came into fruition, the day it all started. It is the day we celebrate for ourselves the uniqueness of VATSIM, all geo-political barriers are broken on VATSIM we are a world wide community who share one thing the love of aviation and flight simming. So lets celebrate that fact on World VATSIM Day Aug 8th 2010.

All you have to do is fly and or control or both. The aim of World VATSIM day is to celebrate our network, (well the network the founders own) by trying to get as many of us, the community online. As I say there is no planning there is no advertising banner (although we might have one this year), you just get online.

If some of you want to fly together or fly to a different country then do so. If someone wants to get in touch with their local media outlet to get some media time then do so. This is the most open ended and looseley planned event in the whole VATSIM Calendar.

xx VAT Venture 2010
July 26, 2010, 01:31:49 PM by N6223
vZAU ARTCC is proud to announce Vat Venture 2010. Vat Venture 2010 is going to be as close to the real KOSH AirVenture event as we can get. We at ZAU are suggesting that you leave your jumbo jets parked in the hangar and pull out that single engine prop for some VFR fun (weather permitting of course). We are featuring the FISK VFR arrival into KOSH and our controllers will be ready to provide traffic point outs and pattern entry instructions. Once on the ground you can expect to be taxied to a grass parking area to watch some of our vSOA's perform formation fly-overs. So….come and join us on Friday July 30th from 2300z-0300z for the first ever vZAU Vat Venture!
(more details)

Please read the NOTAM before the event!

xx Memorial Day Weeklong Celebration
May 11, 2010, 07:48:04 PM by dave A
In observance of Memorial Day NYFC members will be allowed to fly military aircraft.  Military aircraft  will be flown as if on display and as part of a celebration rather than as military operations.

Participating members should continue to put the NYFC website URL in its entirety in the comments section of their flight plan.  However the following should be added;

"In observance of Memorial Day."  it is also recommended that pilots enter a military related charity URL, such as Wounded Warrior Project or http://www.unmetneeds.com

We have had a great time doing this in the past. All we ask is that you actually know how to fly the aircraft before you attach our URL to your flight plan.  Don't accidentally blast through NY airspace at Mach 2 because you are reading the manual.
