The Long Island MacArthur Airport, was built for the Army Air Corps. in 1942, at the end of WWII the airport was given to the town of Islip NY. Today most of the Islip traffic is General Aviation. The Islip class C is directly west of Republic, but as long as you are south of Fire Island, you know that you are outside of their airspace.
