Fleet Policy

singles

Most of our singles are piston aircraft that are for personal transportation, flight training and currency. Recently we acquired a DeHavilland Beaver seaplane and a fractional ownership of two Cessna Caravans. We intend to use these seaplanes to launch into a for-profit venture transporting upscale clients to the East River Seaplane base in Manhattan. This is a big move for us, but it has been big business for others, so why not the NYFC?

Even more exciting is the shareholders authorizing a stake in a genuine warbird, the AT-6 and a WACO Biplane! Sure you could wait for a sight-seeing gig, but woo HOO! Warbird!

Twins

Our twins are coveted through the New York area. Our huge fleet, and the maintenance deals we have worked out (not to mention the very nearly, but not exactly, staff positions we have for mechanics), have proven a model for all flying clubs. Our experienced mechanics have taken on the twins with great fervor and their operating costs are much lower than others.

Our twins are also used for fight training, specifically for commercial and ATP time (using our approved instructors, of course), but our recent part 131 certification allows us to charter them out for commercial purposes other than training. Our first client was an industrial tool manufacturer on Long Island that needed to ship an expensive replacement part to Elmira-Corning airport. After that, we flew a key component to Atlantic City for a demo booth at a convention. Our timeliness, and great serviceability, has given us a reputation to build on, and we will take these jobs on eagerly, as they help pay for the fleet our members own. It is our intention to do most of our charter work with piston twins and the Cessna Caravan, since they cost the most to operate. The savings are passed on to you, the member!

With the addition of a Grumman Goose, we are poised to take in a large amount of revenue transporting people that would nomally take helicopters to the east side of Manhattan, if we could only fix that leak.....Keep your fingers crossed and your investment may turn a profit!

But don't let the charter business fool you! As a member you may fly the Grumman Goose to go visit your Grandma for all we care, as long as you pay the hourly.

The main reason for this flying club is for your indulgence in flying whenever and whatever you like in our fleet. Do so!
